Linlithgow is steeped in history and famous for its palace. Other historic locations nearby include the magnificent Hopetoun House, House of the Binns and Blackness Castle, to name a few.
The Union Canal meanders through Linlithgow on its way to Edinburgh and offers accessible trails for walkers and cyclists, or gentle canal cruises that the whole family will love. The other end of the canal is marked at the fascinating Falkirk Wheel, which along with the nearby Helix Park – home of the iconic Kelpies – is a must see attraction. Young and not-so-young visitors alike will love a trip on the steam railway at Bo’ness, while in the country parks of Beecraigs and Muiravonside you can escape along a variety of walking routes from hills, woodland and surfaced trails, with play parks and animal attractions for younger visitors.
Or, check out from the everyday and check in at the world-class contemporary sculpture park, Jupiter Artland, which is a 20 minute drive away from your cottage.
With all this and more in the immediate surrounds of Paddockhall Farm you can pack in as many activities as you want. If you still have time, within day-trip distance to the west is the vibrant city of Glasgow, Loch Lomond and the stunning Trossachs; to the east Edinburgh; or cross the Forth to explore the Kingdom of Fife and Perthshire.
